2.8% increase in cargo volume at Damietta Port in May

A report issued by the Damietta Port Authority showed an increase in the number of ships at the port during May 2018 compared to May 2017.

According to the report, the number of ships at the docks of Damietta Port amounted to 281 vessels in May, compared to 254 vessels in the same period of 2017—a growth rate of 10.6%.

General cargo ships increased by 68.3% in May 2018 compared to the same period of 2017.

According to the report, the volume of cargo handled at the port increased by 2.8% compared to the same period of 2017. The volume of cargo handled at the port reached 3.2m tonnes in May 2018, compared to 3.1m tonnes in May 2017.

The volume of liquid bulk goods increased by 495.7% in May 2018, while general cargo increased by 64.7% and the volume of goods in containers increased by 1%.

The report by Damietta Port Authority for the month of May 2018 showed an increase in the number of handled TEUs through the port by 1.4% compared to May 2017, reaching 93,300 TEUs in May 2018, compared to 92,000 TEUs in May 2017.
