Zayed launches 3rd phase of ‘100 Million Health’ Initiative

The Minister of Health, Hala Zayed, launched on Friday the third phase of the President Abdel Fattah Al-Fattah Al-Sisi’s initiative for detecting hepatitis C, and non-communicable diseases, in 27 governorates. She said on Saturday that 551,036 people were scanned during the first day of the initiative’s third phase.

Zayed added that the total number of citizens who were scanned reached about 30,582,000 million citizens in 20 governorates since the beginning of the initiative in October 2018. All the scanned citizens have received free medication.

She noted that the 13,100,000 people were scanned in initiative’s first phase of the, while 17,750,000 million people were scanned in the second phase.

The third phase includes the following governorates: Giza, Gharbeya, Sharqeya, Daqahleya, the New Valley, Qena, and Minya.

The seven-month initiative comes under the slogan ‘100 million Health’ and it was launched in October 2018. The presidential initiative targets scanning more than 23 million people in the third phase.

The check-ups of the three phases of the initiative target about 45 to 52 million peoples in all governorates, aiming to combat hepatitis C by the end of 2020.

Zayed added that more than 8,000 medical teams are participating in the initiative in two shifts. The third phase is set to be finalised by the end of April.
