The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, The New and Renewable Energy Authority and Terrapinn Middle East, will launch the ‘Solar and Wind Show MENA 2019’ next week, a dedicated conference and exhibition that will help advance the renewable energy sectors across the MENA region.

Terrapinn, a global B2B media company, have extended the global event brand ‘The Solar Show’ to Cairo on 19-20 February 2019. The event will bring together key stakeholders from across the MENA region to explore new opportunities, knowledge exchange, and evaluate global best practice case studies from 100 world expert speakers.

The Solar and Wind Show will be held with the official support of the ministry of electricity and renewable energy, the New and Renewable Energy Authority, and the Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RECREE).

The show will feature a three-track conference with 17 Energy Ministries flying in from around the Middle East and North Africa. There will be keynote sessions, presentations, panels and in-depth roundtables.

The conference attendees will be addressed from the Head of Renewable Energy Project Development Office at the Ministry of Energy, Saudi Arabia,Turki Alshehri. This is in light of the recent news that the Saudi Ministry of Energy just increased their renewable target to 40GW by 2030. Alshehri will be talking the audience through this.

The conference will also hear from Mohamed El Khayat, Executive Chairman, New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), Minister of Energy & Natural Resources, Djibouti Yonis Ali Guedi,  Minister’s Advisor for Energy Affairs, Mohammed Dabbas, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Jordan, and Advisor to the President, MASEN Tarik Hamane.

General Manager, Terrapinn Middle East, Rebecca Tyson, said “As a market it is an exciting time to be involved in the renewable energy space as Egypt embarks on a high profile mission to realistically, and cost-effectively, supply 53% of its electricity mix from renewables by 2030, double the share to be expected from current plans and policies. “

Tyson also added, “We’ve been incredibly grateful to be supported by the Egyptian government in the planning of our show. GAFI, the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, is an official government partner of the show. We have had a fantastic partnership with Cairo-based organisation called RECREE. The Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency aims to increase the conversation between Arab governments around renewable energy, to ultimately drive renewable energy interoperability. We’re also honoured to have the support of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the NREA, the EEHC and the EETC, who all be exhibiting at the show.”

Alongside the conference is an exhibition where attendees can meet some of the world’s largest and most innovative solar solution providers, including JA Solar; Canadian Solar; Yingli; GCLSI; Chint; First Solar; Vikram Solar, and Lightsource BP powered by Hassan Allam. Orascom are also the Platinum Sponsor of the show, who are there to share more information on their renewable energy projects.

The Solar and Wind Show will be taking place at the Nile Ritz Carlton, Cairo on the 19th and 20th January 2019.
