Members, co-operators committed to continuing measures to stabilise oil prices: OPEC

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) secretary general, Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo, said that there were signs of recovery and stability in oil prices across world markets, which would be confirmed in the coming period.

He added that members and outside co-operators are committed to continuing the measures taken to stabilise oil prices in world markets, despite the pressures faced by OPEC.

Barkindo noted that OPEC is seeking permanent stability of the oil market to contribute the economic growth of the communities.

Furthermore, he stressed that OPEC is in continuous dialogue with member states and non-members to reach decisions that are in favour of the oil market globally.

In addition the OPEC secretary general noted that Egypt is rapidly becoming a regional energy hub and has made great strides in recent years.

Moreover, Barkindo pointed out that Egypt has become an important player in the oil sector worldwide, expressing good cooperation between the organisation and leaders of the state.
