Indonesian firms’ delegation to participate in Egypt’s first IATF

Delegation includes representatives from PTPN, say sources

About 16 Indonesian firms will participate in the first Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2018) that Egypt will host from 11 to 17 December, sources from the Indonesian embassy in Cairo told Daily News Egypt, on condition of anonymity, adding that Indonesian firms are keen on discussing the possibilities of joint cooperation between Egypt and their African counterparts.

The seven-day fair, a one-of-a-kind event, will showcase over 1,000 exhibitors. The IATF is expected to host more than 70,000 visitors, purchasers, and sellers from African and non-African countries, in addition to welcoming African heads of states, and high level officials, such as trade and industry ministers, finance ministers, and central banks’ governors. According to Egypt’s Ministry of Trade and Industry’s data, the IATF is to attract investors and stakeholders to the African continent, with a target of more than $25bn in trade deals.

The IATF will open venues and enable buyers and sellers, investors, and countries to discuss and conclude business deals. It provides an opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their goods, services, engage in Business to Business (B2B) exchanges, and conclude business deals, the data illustrated.

Indonesian embassy sources noted that the next Indonesian delegation will include representatives from PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) III Holding, which previously visited the market from 7 to 10 October, adding that PTPN’s second visit affirms its strong interest in cooperating with Egypt.

PTPN is to open two new offices in Cairo and Dubai, Arif Budiman, the company’s senior vice president of the marketing department told DNE earlier in October, adding that his company aims for direct access to its clients in the Middle East. Crude palm oil (CPO), palm kernel oil (PKO), palm kernel (PK), palm kernel meal (PKM), tea, coffee, cacao, rubber, and gloves are the main commodities which PTPN trades in.
