NAT accepts Mitsubishi’s technical offer to supply first-phase trains for fourth Metroline

NAT assigned the tender for supplying 64 trains in the third and fourth phases of the third metro line to the French ALSTOM and Hyundai Rotem.


The National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) has accepted the offer made by Mitsubishi Corporation in the limited international tender launched by the authority to supply the mobile units for the first phase of the fourth line of the Metro.

According to an official at the authority, no other offers were made by international specialised companies except for Mitsubishi. The technical examination committee accepted the contract and its procedures started. This offer was rated 90.34%.

NAT assigned the tender for supplying 64 trains in the third and fourth phases of the third metro line to the French ALSTOM and Hyundai Rotem.

The implementation work of the fourth line started in January.

The NAT is finalising the work in the exchange of traffic of the Metro line extending from El Malek El Saleh to 6th October city, passing by Giza square, Haram and the Grand Museum, with a length of 18 km under the ground.

The NAT is implementing new projects extending over an area of 55 km, including the Metro projects over the upcoming three years.

The NAT plans to implement six new Metro lines ending in 2032, connecting greater Cairo to all its parts.

The Metro receives more than four million commuters daily on its two main lines Marg-Helwan and Mounib-Shobra. In addition to the completed part of the third line Attaba-Fair Zone which includes nearly five stations.
