Ramadan added that 40% of PAI’s exports to foreign markets rely on its own farms’ production, and the rest comes from other certified and export-oriented farms. He noted that the company’s main export markets include Russia, China, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Ukraine and the Gulf countries.
He continued that the PAI entered the Spanish market for the first time this year, and it will target Malaysia and Pakistan next year.
Ramadan pointed out that the East Asian markets are one of the most buoyant demand markets for Egyptian citrus, citing these countries’ high population. He also praised the Chinese importers’ commitment to importing contracts.
He added that Egypt is one of the world’s largest exporters of citrus with total exports of about 1.7m tonnes.
On the other hand, Ramadan said that his company intends to export 100 containers of pomegranate this season, after the Egyptian agricultural quarantine adopted encoding requirements for export-oriented farms.
He pointed out that the PAI has two plants for the production, packaging and sorting agricultural crops with a capacity of 400 tonnes per day. It also has its own farms in Al-Malak and Wadi Al Natroun areas, totaling of 700 feddans. He added that the company bought more 200 feddans in eastern Suez, and it will be allocated for planting orange. The new farms will increase the company’s production by 10,000- 13,000 tonnes.
The PAI is one of the specialised companies exporting citrus products (orange and lemon) and other fruits and vegetables (onions, grapes and pomegranates).
