8 car brands lead price rises in April

The local automotive market witnessed a change in most car prices in April. The price moves included a number of models such as from Opel, Hyundai, Chevrolet, Mercedes-Benz and Ford. The price increases ranged between EGP 1,000, such as Chevrolet Aveo and EGP 40,000, like Mercedes C180.

In March, the agents of Chevrolet, Hyundai, and Mitsubishi increased the prices of their cars. The price rises ranged between EGP 500, such as Hyundai Verna, and EGP 20,000, such as Mitsubishi Lancer.

Most car companies maintained their car prices at the beginning of 2018, with slight changes in some models’ prices, such as those of Renault, Toyota, and Hyundai.

Mercedes-Benz move prices of all its models

Mercedes-Benz added EGP 20,000-40,000 to the prices of all its models in the Egyptian market in April. These rises came after the German manufacturer had maintained the prices of all its models in the last six months.

Mercedes-Benz preferred to absorb the price hikes that followed the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE)’s decision to float the pound. Since the flotation in November 2016, Mercedes-Benz has increased the prices of its models by 22-72%.

The price of Mercedes-Benz CLA 180 recorded an increase of EGP 20,000 to reach EGP 630,000. The GLA 200’s price increased by EGP 20,000 to record EGP 750,000.

The company added EGP 25,000 to the prices of CLA 180 Urban, E180, C180 Avantgarde, and C180 Classic, reaching EGP 700,000, EGP 1.325m, EGP 880,000, and EGP 795,000 respectively. The C180 AMG’s price also increased by EGP 40,000 to record EGP 980,000, while the C180 Exclusive’s price reached EGP 980,000, an increase of EGP 40,000.

Opel approves slight increases on Astra, Cascada models

Opel maintained its models’ prices in the last three months, except for its Astra and Cascada models. Opel Astra recorded an increase of EGP 9,000 to reach EGP 1.343m, while Cascada’s price increased by EGP 10,000 to record EGP 1.670m.

Chevrolet changes prices of three models

Chevrolet increased the prices of three models including Aveo, Optra, and Lanos.

The American manufacturer increased the price of Aveo FL by EGP 3,500 to reach EGP 203,500. Aveo Basic’s price also increased by EGP 1,000 to settle at EGP 192,000. Chevrolet Lanos recorded an increase of EGP 2,500 in April, reaching EGP 161,000. Optra (full options) increased by EGP 2,000 to reach EGP 218,000, while Optra High Line’s price hiked by EGP 2,000 to reach EGP 229,000.

Chevrolet had added EGP 5,000 on the prices of Optra models last month, recording a EGP 216,000 on its lowest class. In the past months, the company added EGP 2,000 to the prices of Aveo to start from EGP 190,800, while it added EGP 19,900 on N300 to reach EGP 169,150.

Nissan adds EGP 2,000 to Sunny’s price

Nissan increased the prices of all Sunny models, with the lowest class reaching EGP 211,000, the second class recording EGP 223,000, and the third class settling at EGP 233,000. Other models maintained the prices of February.

Nissan had increased the prices of its models at the end of last year, with Sunny recording an increase of about EGP 7,000, Centra increasing by EGP 10,000 to reach EGP 295,000, Qashqai increasing by EGP 19,000 to reach EGP 424,000, while the price of Juke Platinum increased by about EGP 30,000 to reach EGP 355,000.

Ford increases prices of Fusion, Kuga, Focus

Ford changed the prices of its Fusion, Kuga, and Focus models, adding EGP 16,000 to Fusion and Kuga, to reach EGP 515,000 and EGP 565,000 respectively. The price of Focus increased by EGP 11,000, to settle at EGP 345,000. This is the second increase within two months, as the company increased the price of Fusion to EGP 499,000 in the last month and added EGP 14,000 to the price of Kuga to reach EGP 549,000.

Prices of BMW, Kia, Renault, Mitsubishi fixed without changes since February

BMW kept the prices of its cars fixed since February. The prices remain the same in April. BMW increased the prices of its X models in early February by adding EGP 90,000 to the price of X1, taking its price to EGP 850,000, and EGP 25,000 to the price of X3, taking its price to EGP 1.05m, while the price of X4 increased to EGP 1.425m, X5 increased to EGP 1.85m with an increase of EGP 60,000, and the price of X6 increased to EGP 3.15m, an increase of EGP 50,000.

Toyota’s prices fixed after slight change last month

Toyota has kept the prices of its cars fixed since February. Last month it slightly increased the price of Corolla by EGP 3,000, taking its price to EGP 355,000, while the prices of January remained the same for all its other models.

Renault catches its breath

Renault has kept the prices of February fixed. However, last month it increased the price of its Capture model by EGP 30,000, taking its total price to EGP 360,000, while the prices of the rest of the models remain unchanged.

Fixed Mitsubishi prices after increase in Lancer’s price last month

Mitsubishi kept the prices of all its models the same as well, but in March, the company increased the price of Lancer by EGP 20,000, to take the total price of the car to EGP 285,000. Near the end of 2017, it added EGP 17,000 to the price of the model, taking the price of the lowest class to EGP 264,900 and EGP 296,900 for the highest class.

Prices of Kia stable for the fifth month

The prices of Korean maker Kia remained stable for the fifth consecutivemonth. Kia was one of the cars to witness crazy price increases during the period extending from mid-2016 to mid-2017 as the result of the flotation decision.

Emgrand records increase of EGP 8,000

Geely Emgrand has seen an increase of EGP 8,000, as its price reached EGP 183,000 after a relative stability in its prices in December 2017 and January, February, and March 2018.

Prices of Chery Envy, Tiggo increase

Ghabbour Auto, the agent of Chery in Egypt, increased the price of Envy in the Egyptian market by EGP 2,000, and Tiggo by EGP 4,000. After the increase, Envy costs EGP 162,000 and Tiggo EGP 240,000.

The company also added EGP 2,000 to the price of each model last month.

Increases ranging from EGP 2,000-7,000 on Hyundai prices

The increase of the prices of Hyundai ranged from EGP 2,000 to EGP 7,000.

The lowest class of Verna recorded an increase of EGP 7,000, taking its total price to EGP 167,000. The i10 model saw an increase of EGP 4,000, taking the price of the car to EGP 234,000. Meanwhile, Elantra AD increased by EGP 5,000, taking its price to EGP 307,000.  All the Tuscan models recorded an of increase EGP 3,000, making the prices of its three classes EGP 465,000, EGP 490,000, and EGP 537,000.

Ghabbour previously increased the prices of Verna by EGP 2,000, taking the prices of the lowest manual class to EGP 159,900, and the automatic model to EGP 185,900.
