Nine people charged with killing the bodyguard of Hesham Ramez, the former governor of Central Bank of Egypt, have been sentenced to death by the Cairo Criminal Court.
The defendants shot the guard in 2013 and were found guilty of premeditated murder, automobile theft and owning weapons without a license. The decision is currently being appealed.
Two other defendants in the case were acquitted, while two more were sentenced to two years in prison.
