Zamalek won the Egyptian Cup on Saturday after defeating Wadi Degla 3-0 in a game played in Al-Gouna Stadium, which was mostly attended by Zamalek fans.

This is Zamalek’s first trophy since 2008 when Cairo’s White Knights claimed the Egyptian Cup five years ago.

Ahmed Gaafar seized an opportunity to score when Degla’s backline badly intercepted Mahmoud Abdel Razek “Shikabala’s” corner. Gaafar’s deflected shot made it into Degla’s net in the 13th minute.

Ten minutes into the second half, Ahmed Eid Abdelmalek received Shikabala’s pass inside the penalty area and played a perfect cross to Gaafar, who headed the ball deftly into Degla’s net.

Shikabala scored a goal he deserved in the 64th minute when he diverted a free kick near the corner flag into Degla’s net.

The Zamalek fans celebrated winning the long-awaited trophy with the players in Al-Gouna Stadium.
